'He was diagnosed with ugly': Feline pawrent rescues malnourished stray cat, but vet convinces her the sweet kitten won't get adopted because of his looks

All cats are beautiful - even the tripods, the pirate cats, the scruffy ones, the long ones, and especially the chonky ones. The kitten in our story below certainly is, even though a "trusted" vet said that he would have difficulty getting adopted because he's not stereotypically beautiful. He was rescued by a local cat pawrent, whose house is already filled with felines and is unable to keep them for themselves. We have a sneaky suspicion this kitty will end up as part of the family in a few days if they can't find a loving home, though.

Sure, he may not be fluffy, but not everyone wants a floofy cat that looks like a cloud. He's purrfect for a family that doesn't like a lot of shedding, and with those awwdorable ears, he will come running every time you call him (especially if you have a treat bag to crinkle). But seriously, we're sure he'll find a family to love him, even if it was maybe staring him in the face from the beginning. 

We don't know about you, but we think the vet's comments were pawsitively uncalled for. Beauty is subjective, and most cat lovers don't care so much about the aesthetics of their cats. It's not like dogs that come with huge varieties of shapes, sizes, and purrsonalities. What matters is that the cat loves you and feels safe around you. It doesn't matter what they look like on the outside, but how they act from the inside.

    Recent rescue I brought to the vet. I'm planning to patch him. up and send him to his forever home. But the vet said I'm gonna have a hard time because he's "not that cute" Imao. It's been 3 days since I posted him on my local website, social media etc... and still no biters... What else can I do to get this cutie adopted? I already have 2 foster fails... I can't afford another troublemaker lol

  • Who in their right mind would call this cat “ugly”? He looks like a little rascal. Sure, he could use a little meat on his bones, but that will come with a stable home, lots of love, and some good food. Cats really fluff up in the cutest way when they are surrounded by people who love them.

  • We would be honored to add him to our family, and if we feel that way, we're sure there are plenty of others who will as well. If you want a fluffy Persian cat, go buy one of those! But the rest of us who are fine with adopting (or finding) our cats, he looks purrfectly lovable to us - and that's what meowtters the most.

    I almost thought I adopted "Bill the Cat" until I actually got to look at him. My family and I thought he'd be kinda ugly, but my dad insisted we checked him out anyway. 10/10 don't regret.

    home. I never intended to have 6, I took in a beautiful, but malnourished tortie, only to discover later that she was pregnant. Only suspected a few days before she gave birth. The kittens were too cute to trust with anyone else and I felt that she deserved to keep them as I think she had had and lost previous litters.
